Candle Burning Tips

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Remove labels and wrapping before lighting candles.
Burn pillar candles on an appropriately sized plate/heat resistant holder. This will protect your surfaces and prevent the colour/scent from marking the surface.
Trim wick to 6 mm each time before burning. This encourages an even burn while helping to eliminate dripping and smoking.

When burning candles the wick should not be longer than 0.5 cm at all times. This encourages an even, longer lasting burn while helping 1 to eliminate dripping and smoking.

Burn your pillar candle 1 hour for each inch of its diameter. This allows a wax pool to develop, preventing the formation of a hollow in the centre of the candle.
For best results, burn candles away from drafts to prevent uneven burning, dripping and smoking.
Never burn a candle completely. Once your candle has burnt to within 2 cm of the base or holder, dispose of it.

Do not burn jar/glass vessel candles for more than 3-4 hrs at a time, as this may cause the glass to crack due to build up of heat in the glass.

Top Hint: To extinguish a candle, dip the wick into the liquid wax, using a non-flammable instrument. This little known technique eliminates smoking. After extinguishing the flame, remove carbon deposits or other foreign materials from the liquid wax.

Store your candles in a cool and dark place. Strong light will cause the colour to fade. To regain the colour and lustre of the candle, simply buff with a soft cotton cloth to remove dust, dirt, and small scratches.
