6mm wood mala necklace on stretch cord. 108 beads.
The mala is used so that one can think about the meaning of a prayer or mantra with sincerity, devotion and full attention, while it is being chanted. Each time the mantra is repeated, the fingers move to the next bead. Many believe that when a mala is used in this manner and after repeated use the mala takes on the energy of the mantra. These beads are not painted black they are black wooden beads, very beautiful.
There are varying explanations of the significance of the 108 beads that are in this necklace. One of them being that 1 stand for God or Higher Truth, 0 stands for emptiness or completeness in spiritual practise, and 8 stands for infinity or eternity. Another explanation is that the two sacred numbers of 9 and 12 when multiplied total 108.
